Sand sits on the outside — it doesn't get into the fill, because the EPS microbeads are sealed inside a zippered inner liner. Shake the cover off at the car. When it needs a real clean, unzip the outer cover, pull it off, and put it in the washing machine.

Fair question. The $25 versions are single-layer inflatables with no removable cover — they leak, they slide, and you throw them out after a season. This is a two-layer build with a washable cover and microbead fill meant to hold shape across seasons. If you'd rather spend $25, genuinely, go do that. We'd rather tell you than have you return it.
